About

Check4® hCG (hl) is a rapid, qualitative test to check the outcome of first trimester Termination of Pregnancy (ToP) or miscarriage. In 5 to 10 minutes, this test will detect an hCG level of 1000 mIU/mL or more. The Check4® hCG (hl) test specifically detects the hCG hormone in urine to check whether the hormone level is 1000 mIU/mL (determined against World Health Organisation reference) or greater. If treatment for Termination of Pregnancy or miscarriage has been successful then the hCG level should drop below 1000 mIU/mL within 10 to 20 days. Check4® hCG (hl) will not detect hCG levels lower than 1000 mIU/mL, while classical pregnancy tests will be positive.

What The Test Can Be Used For

The Check4® hCG (hl) test can be used when testing to see if a medical termination of pregnancy was effective or not. When misoprostol is taken the termination of pregnancy is only 75-85% effective and when taking a combination of both misoprostol and mifepristone which is 96-98% effective. With these two methods not being 100% effective this can lead to uncertainty if the termination of pregnancy was successful or not. The current methods of diagnosing an incomplete abortion is to obtain a quantitative human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) level and transvaginal by testing the patients blood  or transabdominal ultrasound. The ultrasound will usually reveal the presence of some products of conception in the uterus. Instead of having to return to the hospital for an ultrasound or take a doctors time to do a blood work the Check4® hCG (hl) can be used to detect hCG >1000 mIU/ mL in over 99% of cases and determine whether or not your termination of pregnancy was successful. Our test gives you the results in 5-10 minutes, can be done at home without medical staff and is much more cost efficient.

Additionally, the Check4® hCG (hl) test can be used to determine whether or not someone  has had a miscarriage. The four most commonly used methods to examine if a woman is miscarrying are currently: Quantitative HCG Blood Tests, Ultrasound Scans, Fetal Heart Rate Monitors and Pelvic Examination. All of these methods require you to see a doctor and are not time efficient nor cost efficient. the Check4® hCG (hl) test can cutdown uneasy waiting time and the cost of testing for a miscarriage.
